LeLoo: A Modern Bathroom Organization Solution

Transforming Eyesores into Centerpieces

Inspired by the need to subtract the ugly, unsanitary, and disorganized, designer Curtis Micklish introduces LeLoo, a plunger/brush/magazine rack that revolutionizes bathroom organization.

People invest time and effort in transforming their bathrooms into beautiful spaces, adorned with stone, glass doors, hardwood vanities, and sculptural plumbing fixtures. However, the presence of unsightly plungers, brushes, and stacks of magazines often spoils the overall aesthetic. LeLoo aims to change that by turning these eyesores into a new centerpiece where organization and utility thrive.

LeLoo's design is characterized by its unique shape and functionality. The triangular form allows for a small footprint, making it ideal for even the smallest bathrooms. The plunger and brush are completely hidden within the design, ensuring a clutter-free space. The white acrylic base blends seamlessly with most bathroom styles, while the white oak cap adds a touch of natural elegance.

Measuring at 8.5" wide x 19" tall x 10.5" deep, LeLoo is compact yet spacious enough to accommodate the plunger, brush, and a magazine or two. The white acrylic body features mitered corners, while the top is adorned with white oak end caps and veneer. The interior hanging element is made of 3/16" steel dowel, while the plunger and brush are crafted from doug fir wood dowels.

Interacting with LeLoo is effortless. With a simple finger pull on the cap, the top lifts off, allowing easy access to the plunger or brush, which can be slid off the metal rack from the backside. When not in use, LeLoo serves as a minimal magazine display, adding a touch of sophistication to the bathroom.

The journey of creating LeLoo began in February 2013, with Curtis Micklish continuously refining the design and production details. All design and prototyping took place at Micklish's shop in San Diego, California.

LeLoo is the result of extensive research and a desire to offer a design that complements the beauty of bathrooms. Micklish noticed a lack of sleek designs for plungers and brushes that truly blended in with the overall aesthetic. To further enhance the minimalistic approach, the addition of a magazine rack that only allows for 1-2 magazines was essential.

The design process presented challenges, particularly in balancing functionality with a small size. Determining the optimal height for the plunger was crucial in minimizing the overall dimensions of the design. After careful consideration, a plunger height of 16" was chosen, providing functionality while maintaining a compact and unobtrusive design.

LeLoo is not only a practical solution for bathroom organization but also a testament to the power of design in transforming everyday objects. With its sleek aesthetics and multifunctional features, LeLoo has been recognized for its excellence. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category.

LeLoo, created by Curtis Micklish, is a testament to the power of design in transforming everyday objects. By seamlessly integrating functionality and aesthetics, LeLoo offers a fresh perspective on bathroom organization, turning eyesores into centerpieces.
